In close collaboration with Forskningsenhed og Kompetencecenter for Psykoterapi, Psykoterapeutisk Center Stolpegård, Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri, we have developed an app that supports people with PTSD.
Treating PTSD step by step
With the app “PTSD hjælp” we are focusing on the well-being of persons suffering from non-military related PTSD. The app was created as a stand-alone app to help guide users through their struggles by offering possible solutions to better handle stressful situations where their vulnerabilities are high. The app can also be used while they are under the care of a certified specialist. This app runs in conjunction with a study done by Forskningsenhed og Kompetencecenter for Psykoterapi, Psykoterapeutisk Center Stolpegård, Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri and their patients who have been diagnosed with PTSD.
Help and guidance
This app provides guidance in helping to identify PTSD and sleep disorders by offering strategies such as; breathing techniques, relaxing images, tasks to do to help improve your mood, exercises, and a soothing voice to help a user fall to sleep by, as well offering direct access to local psychiatric hospitals.
Part of a study
For the introduction phase the app will be limited to patients receiving psychotherapeutic treatment for PTSD in Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri to test its effect on PTSD symptoms and sleep quality, as a supplement to the psychotherapeutic treatment. Later, it will be available to a larger group of users who can also benefit from the features of the app.
Post-traumatic stress disorder
is a mental health condition that’s triggered by a terrifying event — either experiencing it or witnessing it. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
